Hi Chuck, When we woke up this morning it was 7 degrees not including the wind chill factor here in NYC. And i did not go outside to see the moon,  it was just too cold. :laughing7:

We saw -11 here last night but the clear air allowed for a great view of the lunar eclipse. Tonight we're going for -6, Wednesday we're off to Florida and hopefully some warm weather on the volleyball court.

Liquid eclipse . . . . (Re: Everyone Staying Warm)

Dear Chuck, Tony, EZ Cool, Dennis, Jim, Kevin, and mid-60s Buick owners who pay attention to the weather,

-18 degrees for us this morning.
. . . .

Here in California we are in a mid-winter heatwave after a previous week of cool and wet weather.  There is a ridge of high pressure to our east which means the winds blow from land to shore and compress along the way.  That warms things up.  The nights are cold (lower 40s) but we are expected to get into the lower 60s by the end of the week.  Last Saturday we reached 65? F.

It was really super cool viewing the Super Blood Wolf Moon at midnight.

Well I did try, but most of our eclipse was "liquid" in variety as we had one last round of rain.  We even had a bit of icy eclipse - hail!  I had hoped to get my camera out and catch something, but cameras and rain don't mix!  :laughing7:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Tonight we've moved on to freezing rain and snow.  But it's supposed to rise above freezing tomorrow before dipping into single digits this weekend again.  I liked the mild January a few weeks ago better!!

More cold headed your way! (Re: Staying Warm Today??)

Dear mid-60s Buick owners in the Midwest,

The Monterey office of the National Weather Service tacked this curious paragraph to the end of this morning's forecast discussion:

One final addition - If you`re a weather nut watch the weather over the Mid West the next week or two. Two solid pushes of arctic air will cause temperatures and wind chills to plummet. The overall anomalies with these airmasses are off the chart and will be the coldest season.

You can read up some more on what's coming on this report from the national office:

https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/hpcdiscussions.php?disc=pmdspd

So if you haven't taken all precautions against the cold - time's a wastin'! . . . .

Do let the rest of us know how cold it actually gets in your corner of the country!

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Nice picture Jim. Does that signify anything weather wise ?

In Green Bay we’re headed for a low of minus 6 and a high tomorrow of 2. And it gets worse after that - lots worse.
