John, you're not alone in being asked to reduce thermostats by the gas company. Except here, Consumers Energy made the plea to drop stats to no more than 65 because of the combination of extreme demand and a fire at one of their facilities yesterday. Not a good combination!
Only -18 with -37 wind chill here this morning. I'd love to have that natural gas, but it's not available here, so I'm hoping the propane holds out until the next delivery. The propane company manages that automatically, but I'm going to monitor it myself and make a plea if needed.
Then, this weekend, the temps warm up and we're supposed to have heavy rain and flooding. The ground's frozen hard with 8-12" of snow on top. The heavy rain melts the snow, but the frozen ground can't absorb it. I'll probably be putting my wet vac into duty in the basement again
Stay warm and keep your cool!
Chuck
