Doc,

So far that seems to be the color combo that a couple guys have come up with.

How cool it'd be to see her come alive again...    ;D

I have a perfect California post car sitting here that I intended on using for my GS four speed rebuild however the more I think about it, I could save the four speed shell if I use up my NOS quarters and this would free up the California car up for the Reynolds project....

Hmmm.. decisions... decisions...

seriously we could make this a reality. We should see if the dealership might want to sponsor part of the build or be involved in anyway? Imagine the car sitting in their showroom again? How cool would that be. I have a lot of magazine connections, I am sure we could get some good press on the car once completed...I  as well as alot of other folks out there have alot of good contacts that could become strategic partners in aiding the build of this car. I'd love to build this car at my shop.

Tom spoke with Pete Reynolds tonight and Pete is totally ok with us building the tribute car.

I'm thinking of using my post car as the base.

If I put my four speed car on hold (not an issue) this is what we'd have.

What I have now in my garage:

Body shell - Rust free California post
Perfect doors
Perfect Skylark fenders needing cut and converted to GS
Trunk lid
Hood
Rebuilt GS motor
GS auto transmission
Shifter / console
Bumpers - Need rechromed
Lenses
GS motor mounts

John E. said he'd donate the fender vents

Tom W. said he'd do the road trip with me to get the body up to RI.

Mike M. body labor

Still needed,

I'll have a Skylark coupe frame, has anyone ever boxed one of these (is it worth it)?
Interior Kit
Bucket seats
GS emblem set
Paint / Materials
Posi rear end
Period correct wheels / tires
Weather stripping
GS battery cables
GS battery tray & brackets
Decals
Exterior trim detailing

Fair to say we are half way there?   ;D

Chris,

As well as the extra set of  '65 GS ventiports, I have an extra set of Gran Sport emblems including the glove box emblem that I will donate.  Did the Reynolds GS have to first style small silver grille emblem?  Don't forget the halo trim. I know where there is a set in a salvage yard.  However, I did promise that I grab them for Mark A. the next time I go out into the sticks.  The snakes and wasps should be asleep at this time of year.

I've have the "Halo trim" on my Skylark post (Sedan) but it's not on my GS post.

This is a good topic.. anyone want to attempt to set the record straight?    :D

    Soft top

    Post

    Coupe

    Skylark

    GS

    Special

What are the differences in roof trim and does anyone have pictures to help demostrate?

Do they have any interest in being involved at all?  Do they have any color pics of the car?

Mike,

I'll let Tom comment more here about his discussion with Pete, but he told me that he caught him right as he was running out the door.

I wouldn't suspect there would be much interest from them to sponsor (especially with auto sales down so far) although when completed, I would love ship the car out to them to display in their showroom for a period of time at their cost (shipping).  It'd be really cool to have Pete sign it and snap some pictures.

Some thoughts were to use the car to celebrate the 50th anniversary in 2015 (Buick shows / GS Nats) then put the car on rotational display at places like the Sloan Museum, Floyd Garrett's garage near Pigeon Forge TN, The Peterson Museum in LA, etc.  This would give a large audience the chance to see the car, read the story and start recognizing it more.

The magazine articles would be cool also as you'd suggested Mike and a special section dedicated to the project would be a nice 65GS.com website addition.

As I'm working on the 65GS Shop and I'm already thinking that some "Reynolds Tribute" T-shirts etc. would be a great way to make a donation while getting something nice in return that clearly shows your support.  More work to be done here as I need to know the boundaries of using the Reynolds name etc.

My intent is to let anyone who wants to help, do so and I'm going into this knowing that all expenses not covered by donations are mine (helps to have six years to spread it out).

I don't know how others feel about this and I don't ever want anyone feeling pressured to give anything... so if you have an opinion.. please feel free to express it here?

John,GS trim did not include the Halo roof trim.

Yup, I know, I misspoke. Sorry. I was referring to the GS trim that goes under the rear window and sail panels. Thanks for the correction.

When i spoke with Pete Reynolds about the car he had very little to offer.I"am sure over the years it became just another car to him.Like his son Don a very nice guy to talk to.He does remember giving all the trophies and any memorabilia to the Kennedy family but has lost contact with them.He took my # and said he would look around to see if he could run across anything and would let me know.                                                                                                                            I do have some better newes from todays search.I have made contact with a guy at Kennebell and would have been able to talk to Jim Bell himself but he was out sick. The person i talked to knew exactly which car i was talking about from the pictures of it hanging in the hallway. Will keep everyone updated as i get more information.   Tom

Very cool Tom!

You are Da Man when it comes to sluething... I think I'll nickname you Columbo!    8)

If you remember, please ask if they can detirmine the interior and exterior colors?

We are guessing Sahara Mist with an Artic White top...

Any pictures or information they could send on this car would be awesome!

Thanks buddy... this really is neat stuff!
