We had a severe snow storm here in Michigan in 1978 that closed everything. My dad had just bought a new 77 Skylark, basically a Nova with a vinyl top,to use as the family truckster. So,we are going to pile in and go North for the weekend because nobody had to work. Most people would close the doors and put a log on the fire, but my dad plowed through the snow to get to the cabin in Glennie. We slip and slide about 150 miles to get there only to be ran into the ditch by an idiot who was driving way too fast to steer. The best part is that we are now literally in a ten foot ditch on our own property in front of the cabin.....My dad never said a word,he opened up the trunk, grabbed some beer, and sat down at the table with a bag. He opened the sack and took out an 18 wheeler model truck with several bottles of paint and brushes. Two days later,we were putting on the Pabst Blue Ribbon decals on the side of the semi trailer and calling a wrecker to pull the car out. It kinda makes me wonder how long that beer and model had been in the trunk of that year old Buick.
