I think we've all been in 'rescue mode' at some point.  Good on 'ya for saving her!

Now we just need pictures and full disclosure!  :laughing7:

John, have you been hanging out with Cheech and Chong?  They must be new to Buicks.

Loren , you couldn't have said it any better !  It's an illness and I have it pretty bad . ( along with many of the folks on this board ) LOL  :laughing7:
Chuck , that rescue mode has had a tendency to get the best of me . Some people rescue pets , well I guess i rescue iron .
Kevin , first off just so I clear myself, I have NEVER smoked weed or will I . But i was watching one of cheech and chongs movies and seen a 65 skylark in it .
So I did go look at another 65GS that Mark Ascher tipped me off on and it was right up my alley . The last thing I really need is another project BUT it was one of those cars that is rare enough that I couldn't, say no .
I don't have many pictures yet as I have not picked it up yet , going to get it after labor day .
I really want to say a BIG THANKS to Mark A. for turning me onto this car .
So the details I have so far is its a 65GS convertible born in Astro blue with white top and interior and also ( the reason I couldn't say no ) is its another factory 3 speed car . Why I like the 3 speeds is beyond me but OH WELL .
This car is all apart and in pieces so it truly is a basket case . Theres a few hard to find parts missing but most of them are there .
I'll start a separate thread in the project and restorations thread after we drag her home with more photos .

I see an elusive part of the clutch linkage, that's a really good thing.  Hope you don't have to go searching for too many parts....

Yeah Chuck all the clutch linkage was there along with the 3 speed trans , it does have an after market shifter on it so ill need to find one of those .
also missing the engine mount adapter plates .
other than that i won't know what else ill need til i get it home . Theres a huge pile of parts that go with it , totes and totes of parts that i never went thru completely .The GS frame is mint , its already been dipped and powder coated the correct black color .
Looks like most of the convert specific parts are there EXCEPT for the back seat , he is checking into that to see if he can round one up .

Hi Jon, when did you become addicted ? Ive been addicted as a young boy , it runs in my family .
I,m afraid I have no escaping my addiction but it does help to talk to others that share our problem .
Yes I was aware it was 1 of 123 built , that was actually the deciding factor for buying it . It just had everything going for it that i liked , the low build number the 3 speed and the color combo .
I googled the color combo on the WWW and found this photo . Really like the colors
Jim , that would make for a sweet photo , a 65 and a 66 next to each other .

It's a sickness but lots of fun. Glad to see another astro blue restored and a 3 speed! I have some measurements of the engine plates if you wanted to to go the route of having some made.

Yep, that's the part that I know both Loren and Clay are looking for.  Clay talked about fabricating one from the pictures and manual info that I sent him.  If he's successful, maybe he could make a couple more?

Or, maybe you could make a couple using yours as a pattern John?

Hi Don , I already have a set for my other car so I'm good as far as measurements .
Thank you though .
Loren , Chuck ,   I was just thinking also that if your not in a big hurry I think I could make a few sets of these rods that would look very close to originals . The clevis part was broken off on one of mine and i just welded it back on and then stuck it in my lathe and turned down the weld a little to make it look closer to the factory weld .
Let me know what you guys think . I can probably do them in the nest month .
