So the details I have so far is its a 65GS convertible born in Astro blue with white top and interior and also ( the reason I couldn't say no ) is its another factory 3 speed car . Why I like the 3 speeds is beyond me but OH WELL .
This car is all apart and in pieces so it truly is a basket case . Theres a few hard to find parts missing but most of them are there .
I'll start a separate thread in the project and restorations thread after we drag her home with more photos .
I know your "pain" - I was looking for a 3-speed when I found mine. It had no engine or trans (apparently had gone to a hot rod!)
so I was thinking of going with the 3-speed. Forces encouraged me to go 4-sp with the wide ratio gear set -what sold me is they had a
"high nickel content" variant so wth. I'm getting my 3-speed kicks from a 69 GS 350/3 sp.
An ex neighbor & son stopped by last weekend - the grandfather has a 65 3-speed coupe he bought new. Stories of racing and shenanigans but the son stands to inherit the car! Best thing is he is already a car guy, racing a Miata and has great interest in fixing grandpa's 65 Gran Sport.
