Hi Everyone, thanks to everyone that's been following my restoration of the Red GS thin pillar coupe, The journey started on May 17th 2003 when I loaded the GS on a U-Haul trailer in Beach Haven PA,
The GS would have been completed today July 6th 2024. Only 4 days before it was again loaded on a U-Haul trailer and transported to the BCA National meet in Ohio. But yesterday I was on my way to the muffler shop I use on Long Island, when I started getting a bad vibration. I quickly moved over to the right lane to pull off to the shoulder safely, when I heard a loud bang and the GS spun around and hit the guide rail. It happened so quickly I was stunned but not hurt, I got out and the left rear wheel was missing. Then I saw the damage, the left quarter and half of the trunk was smashed. I was OK and there was no one else involved, so that was a good thing...
NYPD & EMS arrived to help with the traffic tie up, 2 hours later the flatbed service arrived. And as crazy as it was, there was my friend Howard a BCA/ROA member driving on the parkway and spotted the wrecked GS & me on the side of the parkway and pulled over to help and gave me a ride home.
The GS is now home in my garage. The sheet metal damage is extensive and the rear frame section is bent too.
I contacted my collector car Insurance this morning and the Adjuster will be calling me back. I cannot repair this type of damage, so this should be a total loss and the end....
This is not stopping me from attending the BCA National Meet, I will be in the Flea Market area selling parts, stop by and say hello

Tony
