Happy Labor Day!!
« on: September 07, 2020, 01:42:56 PM »
Enjoy the holiday with family, friends or whoever whatever else makes you happy.  A 65 GS might do...

In a normal year there would have been plenty of car shows to attend.  Not so this year in our area.  Enjoy the last days of summer!!

 :cheers2:

Happy Labor Day to all as well. Last holiday of the summer already. While not a normal year, it certainly was a year to understand what is important in life. I hope we all look back at this find find the silver lining in all that has happened. The best of days are yet to come!!

Happy Labor Day to all! Our trip out west was cancelled this year but we will be going to Michigan in 2 weeks for a trip. Starting at the PSMCDR and then on to the U.P.

Surreal start to autumn in California. (Re: Happy Labor Day!!)

Dear Chuck, 65GSConv, Jim, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Belated Labor Day greetings.  About all we could do is have some special meals to commemorate the occasion.

Labor Day is the unofficial end of summer and start of autumn.  Alas, here in California that means wild fires and the season has already started.  This morning the smoke is so dense above our house that it has created a really surreal scene.  Here is what the sun looked like at 7:15 am this morning:

At this point the sun looked more like a full moon.  1/2 hour later the sun was more recognizable but still very different than normal:

I took one more picture at about 10:10 am.  You can see the strange color of the sky along with the feeble sun:

Definitely a surreal experience to compound all the other issues we are facing these days in California.

Down here in SoCal, we're having the same issue with smoke. Over the weekend, was 115+ degrees, with yellow sun and raining ash from the Bobcat Fire, which is just a few miles north of where I live. Today (Tuesday), it's cloudy and mid 70's. But now the winds are forecasted to pick up, and if it goes the way the forecasters are projecting, it will drive the fire south, directly into the foothill communities along the north part of Los Angeles. We've been notified that we "could" get an evacuation order if the winds do pick up. We're on the very eastern edge of that zone, and I believe that if the worst happens, it will be to the west of me. But having said that, I'm making sure we're ready to skip out quick. Also made sure the gennie has plenty of gasoline, in case we lose power overnight.

Really feeling for those folks up in the Sierra National Forest that lost their homes in the Creek Fire, some really incredible rescues going on up there. Praying for them, and for all that are being impacted by these weird weather phenomena we're having....

My son is at college in Colorado Springs. Yesterday, was 85 degrees. Today it's snowing.

Strange weather indeed. A week ago we were at Kool Deadwood Nites with hundreds of other cars. Last night Deadwood got about 9 inches of snow!
