Hi everyone, It took 9 months but i finally got around to repairing that 225 valve cover with the holes in it. I completed mig welding a hole closed on my replacement trunk lid on my restoration project and was ready to put the welder away when i looked into my "to be welded box" and saw that valve cover, It was still early so I decided to try the advice that Walt posted. I cleaned both sides of the area to be welded, grabbed a few nails and pushed them thru the holes. Cleaned an area for the ground clamp then set my Lincoln to #4 and welded the head of the nail from the inside of the valve cover. It worked with no warping. Then I took my Dremel with a carbide cutting disc and cut off the remaining nail sticking out from the top of the valve cover. 80 grit then 150 grit carbide paper took care of the rough edges. After a quick trip thru the media blaster it will be ready for some Buick green paint. I will be very honest, I was so into what I was doing I completely forgot to take photos...
Thanks to Chuck, Tom, Eduardo and Walt for posting back on January 13th 2019
