Hi all!
« on: January 24, 2018, 05:30:34 PM »
I'm Ian. I've got a '65 Skylark that I've ownedand been working on since the beginning of the new millenium.

It's a fun car, and my baby.

Nice to meet you all!

From CA

By all means Ian welcome to 65GS.com!

I think you'll find this forum a bit more relaxed and easy going from V-8 Buick, but people are really do car about mid-60s Buick and the people who own them.  So do post a few photos and take in all the information you can get.  There are some really comprehensive restorations going on right now and there is a lot to learn from others going through that process.

Once more welcome!

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

WOW! Thanks for all the welcomes. Bringing Ruthy the Skylark home was one of the best choices I ever made. My Dad and I had been looking for projects. Chevelles, etc, I like the square bodies. Then we stumbled on Ruthy, had a chat with the owner. Then took a step back to consider. We both looked at her from a distance and said 'Now THAT is one good-looking car'

Ruthy was a project for the owner's husband, who passed. She wanted the car to go to a good person, so she enlisted the head of the local chapter in Los Gatos, CA. He agreed to sell the car for her.

And Ruthy was the little old lady who owned the car prior to them. That is where her name comes from.

I did most all the work, including paint. I had a bit of a health crises  a few years back, but still kept her. Now I mostly just drive but do some light projects here are there. Now mostly just grateful and not too worried about making more projects.

Mark: yep this is the one!

Hi Iain and mid-60s Buick lovers,  :love4:

Thanks for sharing Ruthy's story!   I always like when a car gets a name.  That makes him/her more a part of the family.

Do post any other pictures you might have, or better still, try to get Ruthy out and take some more!  The weather should be nice this weekend across all of California.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

P.S. Sorry for misspelling your name on my first posting.  I think my speller checker "fixed" what wasn't broken!
