Dear Barb and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

I uploaded some of the pictures of my trusty wagon's original engine.  They include one of the tank I put in 2010:

You can see it completely to the left of the pictures.  As you can see it fit neatly against that wall and it required drilling only one hole.  Unfortunately I haven't been able to locate this universal kit.  I'll try one more time though.

As another thought, here is another view of Biquette's current tank:

As you can see it is also tucked against the radiator support so it isn't taking too much space.  This morning it occurred to me that while this is an aluminum tank, the metal isn't polished, so painting it should be straightforward.  So if you can't find anything else, you might buy this tank, paint it engine bay black and install it like this.  That way it would look clean and business-like without spoiling your "anti-chrome" decor of Dusty's engine bay.

I hope that's at least a bit of food for thought.

Cheers, Edouard

I did not know how to copy the link, I took a pic   I hope I find a good place to mount it. I do not care to paint it. When it gets here I will refiere things.

Dear Barb and mid-60s Buick parts hounds,

I did not know how to copy the link, I took a pic. I hope I find a good place to mount it. I do not care to paint it. When it gets here I will refiere things.

I do hope it fits, you appear to have bought the very last one!!  I was hoping to find dimensions but there isn't another one of these kits on eBay.

Do let us know how it looks when you finally receive it.  I am a bit taken away at how rare these kits have become!  :icon_scratch:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Dear TrunkMonkey and mid-60s Buick "parts hounds,"

Thanks!  You managed to find the exact search phrase to ferret out these coolant recovery kits.  The kit I installed into my wagon back in 2010 is now sold with the name:

Interdynamic MCR3 Radiator Overflow Tank

Here is an example on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/INTERDYNAMIC-MCR3-Radiator-Overflow-Tank/dp/B00ZPIXYBE

If you type that phrase into your favorite search engine it should give you back many other stores that are also selling it.  Oddly though, they aren't sold on eBay for whatever reason.

Barb, if it turns out the model you bought is too large to easily fit into Dusty, you could return it and buy this model instead.  It should fit in exactly the same spot as it did on Biquette.

Who would have thought something as simple as this would turn out to be so hard to find?

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

I will be putting one of these in my 1964 Skylark. :)

Back in the olden days (late 1970s) I put an overflow from a 1970 Cutlass in my 1964 Special.

It was a nice curved tank that sat on the fenderwell as if "Misterl" installed it himself.

Dear Barb and mid-60s Buick owners with way too many photos to keep track of.

I know this is an old thread but I accidentally came across something that might be helpful.

Hi guys does anybody have an over flow tank for 65 Skylar .  Please  and thank you.

You may recall that I recommended a particular recovery tank model because it fit so nicely on the side of the radiator.  I even included a photo that showed the tank but not very clearly.

Well, I was looking for photos of Biquette's exterior trim, and what to I find, but some nice close-up photos of that installed coolant recovery tank!!

So if anybody would like to see those photos, let me know and I can post them.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:
