Hector's steering boxes use the 12.7 ratio gear set, same as used in the mid 80's Grand National, Monte Carlo SS and even Jeep Grand Cherokee.
He offers rebuilt boxes with the option to have the new gears installed into your original box. Very good price too.
I HIGHLY recommend a fast-ratio steering box, it makes the car drive SOOO much better!
Before the 1980's boxes became available, a 70's Trans Am box could be swapped in for the same ratio, but the steering limit stops would reduce the turning circle diameter.
Anyway.... car season is finally arriving here in Pa.

Mother Nature teased us with an early taste of Spring in March, but then gave us more cold temps and even a snowy Saturday last week. Temps are finally getting into the 60's and higher this coming week.... That's a mixed blessing as it also which means everything in my 13 acre 'yard' is going into growth mode! Still have lots of cleanup to do....removing dead or overcrowded trees and the invasive shrubs and vines that are trying to take over! Once it's cleaned up, weekly mowing will be easier.
Car plans will first focus on updating the 1980's resto on my blue '66 for the BCA meet in July. The smoothed firewall will get returned to stock, and the gloss black underhood sheetmetal will be redone in the correct satin black.
Curious how many of you guys are retired? ..... or is talking about jobs/work against board rules???
