Dear gssizzler, Buick_65, and 1965 Buick caregivers,

Yes , they used a very strong waterproof epoxy . I have only had one that the shields where falling off in the 27 years I have been worKing with these cars! You have to put them in a oven to get the shields loose ,I believe!

Thanks for the tip.  I will give that a try.

Please let us know if you succeed in getting the Tri-Shield removed without damaging it.  If we cannot manage to pool together enough interest to have new ornaments made, we'll all eventually have to restore our original ornaments.  So figuring out the best way to do that would be very useful.
