64/65/66 MANUAL SHIFT FACTORY FLOOR HUMP
« on: November 22, 2014, 01:34:26 AM »
Guys... I am looking for that preverbial HOLE...  64/65/66 FACTORY floor hump, large enuf for me to drill out the spotwelds and reweld just the hump to my floor.   I dont want aftermarket, so I am looking for thumbiddy who has a 4 speed GS hulk rusting away in their back yard, sandwiched twixt your garage and the neighbors fence...  Ya, you know the one!

I know thumbiddy out there has one they would like to trade for something I may have, that YOU need for one of YOUR 65 GS projects..right?  I have 2 65 GS verts and a few 65's I've parted out over the past few years. SO I DO have some parts... :glasses9:

Let the negotiations begin NOW!

Wheelz,
I saw your post earlier, but I am not sure how to fix my own problem yet. Mine had a vertical gate shifter and a WAY messed up floor pan. I ordered a new hump from a malibu, and I want to compare them. Here is a pic of an original 65 hump, and after I compare the two I might be able to get more info. This original cut is pretty rough and I thought I could alter the malibu hump to match it. I will get the new one in a few days.

The repo 64-67 Chevelle 'without console' is a near perfect match to a GS one. I know I posted comparison pics on V8 Buick, may have posted them here too.

THANK YOU!  Will be interesting to see the comparison. Since this post, I have learned that the 70-72 floor humps is the SAME Buick used from 64 up... and I have a 70 hump.  My new issue is...PROPER LOCATION.    Does anyone know for certain, if THERE ARE ANY SPECIFIC LOCATION MARKS on the floor pans, or hump itseff?   My original HUMP has 2 small SQUARE notches on the edge and I am thinking that MAY be a location point??  I will post pix of what Im' tawk'n bout later today...

The one I bought from Shermans is for a 64-7 MALIBU,and it is nearly a perfect match. I am going to trace out the boot holes from my original piece and use it. It really is nearly impossible to put it in the wrong area of a factory floor because the bends are quite correct. It is a decent piece as far as repop junk goes.

Sorry Dennis, I forgot there was a separate file with the dimensional information in it:

From the seam at the front of the tunnel to the front edge of the shifter hole, it's 6 1/2 inches. On the side-side measurement, here is what I did: from the seam inside the rocker jamb, where the rocker is spot welded to the floor pan there is a hard edge there. From the left (driver) side seam to the top edge of the shift hole opening is 28 1/8 inches. On the right (pass) side, the measurement is 29 inches even.  This makes the distance from the center line of the car to the edges of the shifter opening 7/16"
