Mark, I know what you mean about the job getting in the way of working on the GS. I either have the money, but no time to work on the GS. Or I have the time, but no money to spend on the restoration. The only major big ticket item left is the engine rebuild. Want to come to Kansas City to help? The BQ is on me. For the time being, I will work on the trim, interior and the dash assembly.
Mark, regarding the gas tank installation, have you thought of using a floor jack to help. Secure a large (1"x1' x 2')padded wood board to the jack face. Then use the jack to gently lift it into position and then secure the gas tank straps. This should keep the gas tank from getting scratched and save your back.
