Thoughts on this one?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280870854035

I might be interested, depending on price.  Anyone close by to take a look?

Thanks.

I have a 65 GS Nailhead sitting here on a pallet ready to drop in that car to make it "correct".  :)

The engine originally came out of a 65 GS four speed hardtop that has since gone off to Buick heaven.   :angel4:

I was going to keep it as a spare but I could be inclined to part with it for the right cause and price.

"Thoughts?"
Yes - sweaty palms.....

The owner/ad writer states he knows of one other.
I think there are at least 3 owned by members of this forum.

It bothers me how much I want this car.   But then I think:  "what kind of idiot would buy a beat up old 4 speed convertbile off ebay sight unseen?"......ahhh,  oh..., wait a minute.

Midnight blue with white, is a nice combo.    I actually consider this body pretty decent compared to the condition of my 4sp convert  when I bought it (off ebay - sight unseen).  I hope he updates any progress he has on the search for the matching motor.   If anyone from here is bidding on this car, please say so.  It will help me to convince myself to stay away from it. I also have to say that if the engine doesn't match, a 425 with dual quads,  would be a nice second best.

Does anyone on the board run a 425 in their car?

"what kind of idiot would buy a beat up old 4 speed convertbile off ebay sight unseen?"......

uhhhh, me.  :icon_biggrin:
Actually mine was being parted out on eBay and I made an offer for the whole car, sight unseen, over the phone, which he accepted.  It was fairly local to me which was a huge factor. Compared to this one, I'd say mine is in better condition...... with the exception of the engine and the fact my car was disassembled and stored in 3 different locations! :tongue3:

My '66 buddy Jimmy had a '65 4 speed vert stored at his place in Mass a few years ago. It was for sale a short time ago. Might be still avail. It's a project, worse than this one...

I'm running a 425 in my blue '66. Built it when I was a kid, and has been running well for over 30 years!

I think most of us have jumped at buying cars unseen especially rare examples,

it will be a nice looking car with that color combo

the shifter is not stock so wonder if it still has a T-10 in it?

well good luck to anyone bidding here, I only wish I had the funds, but have enough projects going and already purchased my, 1  Buick/Gran Sport for this year (WI 3 speed to MI)

Jim

Hopefully everyone knows I was poking fun at myself.

My brother in law lives seven miles away from this car.  He is mechanical but he is not a Buick guy.   I could ask him to run over there if someone wants a specific piece of information.

I would like more information on the frame and a good photo of the taillights, grill and better over all photo of the car.

Sent a message via eBay asking for a picture of the trim tag and numbers of the carburetors. No answer yet. Let me know if he answers others questions. He has a '65 Skylark convertible for sale also. Says it was bought 4 years ago for $18,500.

Heard from the seller. Has posted a copy of the data tag now. But here is a picture of it. Lots of options.

Seller has posted more pictures of the body. Needs drivers' door, hood and trunk lid amongst other things.
Trim tag shows Midnight blue with white interior, tinted windows, 4 speed, consolette, radio, belt reveal moldings, remote O/S mirror, retracting deluxe seat belts and more. Definitely a loaded car.

What does the star on the Cowl Tag signify as I have a few cars with that?
