3 spd on ebay
« on: July 02, 2011, 10:15:07 PM »
Hey guys,

Jay Roberts pointed me to this 3spd on ebay.  What's the deal with these interior door panels and handles?  Is this something the owner came up with or are these panels out of another car?  Is this car a clone?

That is a two door post car, so I believe the door panels are correct. The seats I am not sure about, but I ASSUMED they were after market. BTW, those door panels are not reproduced.

Wow. I guess I have never seen the inside of a post car before.  I had heard that they were different and I knew they had a different armrest  size,  but I did not realize they even had different door handles, no armrest base, no "skylark" badge etc.

Neat car!
It's an early build .... 4th week of February. 2B on the cowl plate indicates 3 speed manual on the floor.
EE paint code is for the darker Midnight Blue, different from the present color.
Drivers seat bottom has a cover from a 66. 66-up seats are a different design, so the whole seat may be incorrect, but can't tell by the pics. Passenger seat looks correct.
Condition looks more like that of a car with 149, 000 miles!
Still, it looks like a solid car and a nice project.
I'd guess $5-6k would be reasonable.

Rob,

You've seen my post car. That interior is correct as is. Post cars have the two tone interior with seat covers that are different than the coupe's and convertibles.
Rob, did you get my PM about the 3 speed convert on the V8 forum ?

Dan,  I certainly remember your car.  Either I did not see inside of it or the differences just didn't sink in.  MY brain only runs at half speed on the weekends.

I did get your pm about the 3 spd convert on V8.  Thanks.  Sounds like it is a family heirloom.  I can't imagine that car would be for sale.  A lot of family histpry.  I'll send a message just in case the guy wants to sell it.  Mark also said he was going to ask around about that Iowa car this weekend while he is at a show in Iowa.  We'll see.

Rob, you are correct on the family heirloom part. I saw the posting when he had only responded once. Now he has posted again and it sounds like it will be a keeper for him. As he says there were only 123 3 speed convertibles made.

Anyone notice the picture of the shifter/consolette?  It has the 4-speed shift pattern on the consolette!  Consolette must have been added at some point in its life.

Brian,

His ad says he bought the 4 spd consolette later.  I wish he would have listed that separately since it does not match the car anyway.  I would have gone after it.

Rob,

Did not make it to Iowa. We made a decision to go on vacation early, or there wouldn't be a vacation this summer.
I just got back a couple of hours a go. I'll call you this week.

The eBay car sold twice...... apparently the first sale didn't happen.
$4600 the first time, and $6299 last night.
Anybody here get it?

Bob,

Welcome to the '65 GS clubhouse. Congratulations on being the proud new owner of one of the rarer '65 Buick GS. Only 405 were ever built. How many are left now, can't be more than a handful. Glad to hear that it looks better than you expected. Enjoy.

I will have it home saturday and will take plenty of pics. I know of another 65 3 speed post sitting in a field in eastern montana. sadly it blew an engine years ago and is no longer salvageable. along side it is a 66 GS convertible 3 speed which also blew it's motor. guy wanted 4500 for both last time i talked to him. both are parts cars at best.
