Hi Brett,

You probably have a car with an earlier build date. That emblem came on cars built in the first 4-8 weeks of production, which is really just a guess because there are no factory records on that. Take care of it, they are hard to find. It might be helpful if you posted the information shown on the data plate on the firewall. Where in Ohio are you?

Wow!  a Freemont built car with the small grille emblem.  Based on the build date (1st week of Feb 1965), your car should have the small grille emblem like it has.

This gets more interesting. It's a Fremont, California built car.

2A is first week of Feb. build - explains the small grille emblem.
ST 65-44427 - 65 Skylark 2 door post (thin pillar coupe)
Body BF 1164 - unknown
Paint DDA - Astro Blue top & bottom, possibly black vinyl top?
Trim - 191 - blue interior
Acc. - A49 B70 B80 15842 Fremont accessory codes are mostly unknown.

22 stamp in upper right corner - All Fremont cars had this hand stamp, but there are other numbers used. It is not known what they signify. There are some theories, not proven.

The Fremont cars were the only a-bodies in 65 to have "This Car Finished With Magic Mirror Acrylic
Lacquer"

Brett,

112212 is the sequential body number from Fremont. They built Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile & Buick a-bodies on the same line at this plant.

Fremont cars are interesting. John Egle and myself both have one, but they are hardtops.

According to the 442BRO.com site A49 is Deluxe Seatbelts, B70 is Dash Safety Padding, B80 is a Chrome Drip Rail and 15842 is a reference to the factory broadcast card. The convertible I am restoring is a Fremont car.

Dan,

Thanks for the 442BRO info. I know some codes were listed there. I forgot about your convert. I can't tell from the registry how many Fremont cars are listed. I know there are a few more owned by members of this forum.
