I wondered how long it would be before something was said about this car on this site!  I saw the add for it in the AACA Antique Auto magazine that just came out.  If someone on here is seriously interested in it, I can go look at it since where I work is about a hour drive from Gastonia.

Hey Al,
You didn't look to closely at the trunk in my GS.lol  You're correct in that most people have installed the rubber mat, being that is the only thing available.

Guys,

This is the late Steve Shuman's hardtop. The VIN is the same as in the Archived Registry. I believe that his widow sold it in 2006. Looks like a good buy.

I agree with John. This is Steve's GS . I saw this GS up close in 2000 and again in 2003 When I purchased Steve's red coupe. The White GS is very very nice and worth the money. There was also a seafoam green GS that needed alot of work sitting in the same garage, does anyone know where it is now ?

It just seems to me that compared to the Chevelles, GTO's, etc that these Buicks are undervalued and I don't seem to know why.

I'm suprised that some one else has the cloth trunk mat. I have saved a piece of mine for the past 40 years, trying to find a replacement.
Every one says that the aqua/black rubber is orig. Close to physical disagreement a couple of times over this.
I have heard that the 64 Electra trunk mat is same material.?

Al, I came across some NOS material many, many years ago. I think you are correct about the Electra being the same.
I too have had people question it and have also saved a piece of the original material.
I've found remnants in a few '65s I've had, so I'm more then certain that it is correct.

The rubber mat came from the factory in the base model Specials.  The '65 Special  4dr. I used to have had the original one in it when I first got it back in 1994.  My '64 Skylark, and '66 Skylark still had the original foam backed cloth mat like you all are describing when I got them.

The foam backed cloth has been reproduced a couple times.
Some the foam is light and others the pattern is off.
One Wildcat I purchased had a NOS fitted trunk mat
I'll send that to SMS to see if they have it.

If this wasn't true, I wouldn't have my car, since I couldn't afford a GTO or Chevelle in the condition of my GS.  I think it makes our cars that much more unique.

To confirm Al's post, this is Steve Shuman's car.  We have the AACA paperwork. Will be posting it on ebay soon, but would be happier if any of the members are interested.
