Convenience Group
« on: April 22, 2010, 08:17:14 PM »
I just bought a 65 GS and have been doing some research on it.
The Convenience Group is made up of a clock, day/night mirror and trunk light.
Mine has the clock only.  Any ideas?

The clock could be purchased separately (over the counter).

OR

The day/night mirror and the trunk light were removed over the past 45 years.

I also should add that one of my cars has a clock, and a day/night mirror, but NO trunk light.

Re: Hood ornament

I am curious about the hood ornament on my 65 GS.
The colors of red, white, and blue seem to be quite faded on the inside facing the driver.
Any ideas how to restore this piece?  Or buy a replacement?
Thanks

Dave,

It seems like most of the '65 hood ornaments that I've seen are always faded on the backside more than the frontside. Maybe it's from the sun reflecting off the hood. The colors are foil and not paint. Your options are to buy a reproduction hood ornament from CARS, INC. (which are painted, not foil) or find another that's not as faded. At one time, CARS was selling foil appliques to stick on your old hood ornament. However, they don't have them listed any longer.
