Did Rochjester 4-jets ever come on '65 Gran Sports?
« on: April 03, 2010, 10:51:29 AM »
I am embarrassed to ask, but my newly purchased '65 GS post has a 4GC instead of a Carter, and I was wondering if the GS ever came from the factory that way.  The car is mostly original, with the original numbers-matching engine.  And the carb linkage and kickdown is all installed well.  But it seems like it should be an AFB, right??

Yes, a carter AFB #3921 should be on it. Easy to find, they were on many 401/automatic applications in 1965.
The Rochester 4-jet was used on some models thru 1966.

There was an old style Rochester 4-jet used until 1966, but not on the GS. It had a cast-iron base. front and rear barrels were close to the same size.
The Rochester Q-jet first appeared on 1966 Buicks. It's the well-known small primary/huge secondary style. It was used on the 66 Wildcat GS, Riviera GS, and only 132 Skylark GS's with the L76 engine option.  :icon_biggrin: :glasses9:
