Wheel question, not Buick related
« on: July 15, 2024, 08:14:57 PM »
After selling my rear clip I decided to replace all the rotten plywood from the floor and sides of the trailer it had been sitting in for fifteen to twenty years. Of course this project expanded and I rewired, ground and wire wheeled the steel and painted, removed the axle and painted it and replaced bolts. I am at the stage where I need to replaced the tires and wheels. The problem is the hubs and wheels are kind of an old style. The bolt spacing is 5x5.5 and the center hub hole needs to be about 3 5/8”. I have been looking at some rims on JEGS’ site and the hub hole is over 4”. I think this is okay as long as the tires are balanced lug centric and not hub centric. If these don’t work I will have to find some old Ford or Jeep rims and see what size they are.
Any suggestions, ideas, or comments?

Dear Kurt and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

I found my answer at the local tire shop. I pickup my new rims and tires at 2:00.

I'm glad that you solved your problem and were able to support a local business!  These days it is often quite a struggle to find the products you need without resorting to Internet megastores.  I do the best I can but there are only 24 hours in a day!
