Well it was nice enough here to get the red 66 GS into the body shop. 50?s in January, wow. Anyway I had a new dash pad put in, new windshield, added reveal moldings, touched up stone ships by the wipers, replaced the remote drivers side mirror, and buffed the paint. The car is now ready for our drive on Route 66 in May.

Dear Jim, Chuck, Jim, and mid-60s caregivers,

Regrettably, ditto!

Hi everyone, other than the blast of artic air in the beginning of January the weather here on Long Island/NYC averages 40 degrees. I'm shut down for the winter, but still getting small parts for the Red Coupe so when the weather warms up I have all the parts I need to get the Red GS finished in time for the trip to the BCA meet in Ohio.
I just finished up  getting a tool box set up for the Red GS. I already have one in the Convertible & Hardtop. I have used my tools on the way, or at BCA events on my Buicks or helping others. Whatever I spend on the tools pays for itself the first time I need them. If anyone requests, I can list what I have in my tool box or maybe you can suggest what we should carry on road trips ?
We still have about 7 weeks of Winter ahead of us, so we should keep this "Winter Fun" post updated with what we are doing. (Even If you are fortunate to have a heated garage.  I'm jealous)  Or as my wife would say "what are you doing to stay out of trouble" :laughing7:

Dear Tony, Chuck, Kevin, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

. . .
I just finished up  getting a tool box set up for the Red GS. I already have one in the Convertible & Hardtop. I have used my tools on the way, or at BCA events on my Buicks or helping others. Whatever I spend on the tools pays for itself the first time I need them. If anyone requests, I can list what I have in my tool box or maybe you can suggest what we should carry on road trips ?
. . .

Thanks for sharing the tip Tony!  Indeed, it might be a good idea to start a new thread so folks can share the road-trip tool kit suggestions.

Hi Jim, Chuck, Kevin, Edouard. Jim's photo got posted upside down and I just could not correct it. I 'm not that good with this computer stuff. I reached out to my son Steven, and he was able to turn it around.. Wow that's a beautiful 66 GS, in  Flame Red too! You will be turning heads on route 66 for sure. Being a GS all the other cars  will be seen from you rear view mirror..  Enjoy your trip in May.
Edouard, starting a new thread sounds like a good idea, I don't think we touched on that topic on this site. I will give some thought on exactly what I could call it, and some photos would help too.

Hi guys! I was able to update Jim's post with a better pic from FB (and right side down!).
It looks great Jim!! I have a red '66 GS too... tho paint is cracked and faded. I should paint it someday! Jim's car sure is an inspiration.

I'm rebuilding the 401 for my silver '66 GS 4 spd as my winter project. I did some head porting, adding TA's stainless valves and have a custom cam on order from Comp Cams.

I have a bad habit of taking on multiple projects. The other one in my house garage is a '66 GS 3 spd vert. I probably shouldn't have bought it but I was compelled to 'save' it! I've done a ton of metal work (floor. trunk, one qtr (so far) and lots of small repairs. It's coming along well... when I'm not working on something else.

Thanks Walt. I can only post pics here if I take a picture of the screen on my phone so they do not always come out right. Appreciate the compliments guys! I have taken some tools and parts along when doing long trips like the Hot Rod Power Tour too.
