Those wires from both sides come into a connector. That connector plugs into a connector on the taillight harness. The taillight harness is plugged into the flat ribbon and the flat ribbon goes to the front where it plugs into the main harness under the dash. Could almost make a song out of this. lol
If you haven't invested in a service manual, it is a good item to have. There is also a digital copy of the service manual here on 65GS.com. It is found under "Documentation".

The electrical section is "10". There are pictures at page 10-97 to 10-99 illustrating the rear wiring.

How do I get to this section I can't seem to locate it

Go to the top of this page. See the checkered flag? Click on that. It takes you to the Home page. On the Home page is "Home", "Forum", "Gallery", "Documentation", "Registry" and "Contact Us". Click on "Documentation". Go down to " 1965 Buick Service Manual Chassis 43000 and 44000". Click on that. Now wait for the PDF to open. Patience now, it's a rather large file. Once it is open, you can scroll through it to the pages you would be looking for.
I prefer to have a paper manual to work with. I have really nice copies and also a well-worn shop copy.
