Another "almost" NOS one on eBay. (Re: NOS hood ornament)
« Reply #3 on: March 11, 2024, 03:44:59 PM »
Dear mid-60s Buick parts-hounds,

There is another 1965 Buick A-body hood ornament on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/256441544757

It is described as an "almost" NOS unit, but why it is "almost" is not explained.  The listed starting price is $500 and the bidding ends this Sunday.  So far nobody has bid on it.

We shall see . . . . . . . .

Spring brings hood ornaments? (Re: NOS hood ornament)

Dear mid-60s Buick parts hounds,

There is a "bumper crop" of Buick A-Body hood ornaments at the moment.  The almost NOS hood ornament didn't sell and has been relisted:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/256449936850

Now there is a true NOS in the box hood ornament for sale:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/266731179653

The seller is only asking $575 for it.  That might be a bargain at this point.

I agree. The seller has mislabeled application.

The box and hardware kit are the correct and correct part number for a  65 A body hood ornament! The hood ornament itself is not! Big car as stated!

Honest mistake or deception? (Re: NOS hood ornament)
« Reply #9 on: March 22, 2024, 03:53:59 PM »
Dear Dan, Chuck, Jon, Loren and mid-60s parts-hounds,

Wow!  Very interesting commentary.  I'll be honest.  I didn't look very carefully at the hood ornament itself, since Biquette's looks great now.

It is very puzzling that this hood ornament ended up in the wrong box.  It certainly could be an honest mistake.  However, there is probably more interest for the A-bodies than the full-size Buicks of the period.  I suppose we will never know, but that eBay harbors some unscrupulous vendors as is well known.

Dear mid-60s Buick parts-hounds,

Can you believe it?  Now the folks at Centerville garage have put yet another Buick A-body hood ornament on eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/134990683458

It is used but in very good condition.  At least to my eye it looks a smidge "off," but it could simply be an issue of the photography.

Looks like a correct piece for a 65 Skylark. And in relatively good shape!

I contacted the seller and informed him that the hood ornament is not for a Skylark. He removed the listing.
I have done some research/ looking through eBay listings and a post on the BCA forum. I am fairly certain that the ornament is for a '65 Electra.
Seems it either rains certain items or there is a drought. LOL

It is probably as hard to find as a Skylark in that condition,if not harder. I know I run across a lot of mis-identified parts and often it is just an honest mistake.  That?s a good deal on the used ornament from Buickrodder?definitely in nice shape. I am in the process of acquiring another Buick and some parts so I will likely have few boxes of extras to go through.
