Not a '65 and Not a GS...
« on: August 14, 2023, 07:16:57 AM »
...but it's mine. Had this '64 Skylark since 2014. It's a very presentable driver that my wife and I take on road trips, the longest being from NJ to CA via Route 66 last year. It has its stock drivetrain with the 300 CID engine, ST300 trans, and 2.78 Posi rear. If I had more room I'd have more cars. Been a member of the AACA forums for quite a few years, and just found this one. Looking forward to following other members' posts here. - Jim in Jersey

Welcome aboard, Jim.

Nice to see a picture of your '64 Skylark. As you can see from looking at the forum, it isn't just for the Gran Sport. There is a lot of good information for our '64-'66 and later years as well.

Welcome Jim to 65GS.com!

As Loren has said, this forum is most definitely not only for the 1965 Gran Sport.  After all, the Gran Sport was still an only modestly modified Buick A-Body of the period.  So if you have a 1964-66 Buick A-Body, there is a lot to be learned from this forum.  Even the 1967 remains very similar.  It is until 1968 that things really changed.

Cheers, Edouard

I absolutely love cars like this. At car shows, I'd much rather look at and speak to the owners of cars like this than the over-restored tri-5 Chevy or resto-mod GTO. Cars like this are far more interesting to look at and learn from, in my opinion.

Welcome to the forum! So much information and experience with these cars here. And, no attitudes!!!! Only help and encouragement!

Welcome Jim !    Man id love to hear a little about your route 66 trip . Thats on my bucket list and hopefully soon .
I did two Route 66 trips, one in 2021 from Joliet to Tulsa, and the other last year from Tulsa to Santa Monica. I made two lengthy posts in the AACA Buick forums about my trips: https://forums.aaca.org/topic/367023-another-route-66-trip/#comment-2429339 for the first trip and https://forums.aaca.org/topic/390749-another-route-66-trip-part-2/#comment-2478712. I hope you will enjoy the reads.

Make sure to do the trip, hopefully in an old Buick if you can. Many of the famous landmarks are still there, but others are disappearing. You'll meet lots of friendly folks along the way.
