Wanted bottom radiator support brackets
« on: February 21, 2023, 05:29:36 PM »
Picked up new bottom radiator rubber insulators from Cars but can not find the metal brackets they go into then mount onto bottom of core support. Any help would be appreciated- thanks

If it's a GS it doesn't use any metal brackets, the insulators attach directly to the lower saddle of the rad support.
Only the V6 and 300 engines use metal brackets for the insulators.

There were two different types used for a Skylark depending on whether the radiator was a down flow or crossflow.

Radiator was out of car when I purchased it few months ago.
Here's few pictures of new insulators and ones with car

Also core support picture. I suppose I could drill new holes to accommodate new insulator nipples or cut nipples and let just sit on bottom core support??

The wide-tank GS radiator insulators would fit into these holes (red arrows).

If you are using the narrower-tank radiator of the 300, it used metal brackets with insulators and bolts in at the yellow arrow.
It looks like you bought the insulators for the 300 engine, not the 401.

Understood Walt- thanks
I think I can use my new ones on my 67 GSs
Are the ones fitting correctly for red arrows available?

Yes, CARS has them.
www.oldbuickparts.com
Pull up their online catalog, the website is still wonky after they updated it a while ago.

Roger that- now that I think about it- I picked these up from The Parts Place along with short console lid.   Thanks Walt
