I remember seeing it for sale maybe a couple of years ago. Missing hood ornament made me recall it. Looks nice.

There a a couple things I would change, like the wheels and the shift boot.
Odd combo IMHO of non power steering but power brakes.

Might be the same car featured on my car story with Lou Costabile !? He has done at least two episodes on 65 Skylark GS’s and a very rare 66 Wildcat GS convertible!

Does anybody know if the hood ornament is standard on GS?I have had several parts cars and good cars and have just assumed it was standard on any Skylark or GS. I did not know if it was ever an option package on a special or just deleted. This car looks bare without it but is it possible it never had one

Yes hood ornament was standard on special deluxe, sport wagon, skylark and gs! But I bet if a customer wanted it put on a special or removed the Dealership would! I have a ornament that is brand new take off!? The seller said it came off the dealership parts depart shelf!? So maybe the case!
I also have another take off that had a broken base that was in the box also that was found in the dealers parts department! Thinking ornament was replaced with a new one and the broken one was kept! The base and hardware came with the ornament so if it was need, had to be purchased in kit!

HI,  Either the hood was replaced with a base Buick special hood or they removed the ornament and filled in the hole.. If you were going to spend all that money on paint, bodywork and all that detailing why would they not put the hood ornament back. It's like having a Birthday Cake with no candles ! :sad1:

You guys have got me thinking!

1968 Jack Zent and I are cruising down Main Street in Petaluma, CA. We were in my 1965 Skylark GS four speed. I didn’t much care for my hood ornament and suggested to Jack that I could make a peace sign replacement at work, partly joking, somewhat serious. At that time I was a new fabrication welder specializing in stainless steel with lots of TIG welding experience on food processing projects. I could of made a really good replacement, but Jack said he would rip it off my hood if I did complete that project and install it. He wasn’t a “flower-child”. Maybe I’ll make one in remembrance of Jack and not install it. He is about a mile from me in a veterans area of the cemetery. I would insult him by putting it on my hood. Every time I look at that missing ornament I will think of Jack, he was a really good friend. Keeping him in my memory is a good thing.

These cars have a way of taking you down that path that you thought you forgot. It?s a good thing you guys thought about changing that hood ornament in 68??.A major modification like that in California now would probably void your registration.

Think the air conditioning was added based on the A/C ducts. Regardless, pretty car.

All

Any thoughts on need for patch on air cleaner?

I have California original pollution air cleaner in black paint and chrome dress up version on my 65 GS.

It doesn't look like this.

Yes 23,000?I have learned a lot about Buicks from the guys on this site and I am pretty sure if there was a 65 GS with that mileage we would have already been talking about it?lol.  Why is it that everybody selling classic cars has a low mileage car that has been totally restored and missing a lot of its original parts? The car would probably sell  itself  just by looking at all the work put into it?.definitely not poor quality. I would assume the owner has more than the selling price invested unless he/she did not build the car. Note to seller?..quit trying so hard with your description and people may be more likely to make their own assessments and buy a very nice car from you.
