Here's a hack fix for the 65-67 long auto console shifter slider retainer.

This is a plastic protector piece that came on a new wiper blade. While installing the new wiper blades on our daily driver, I got an idea. Rather than throw the protective plastic piece away, maybe I can make a part to hold the automatic gear selector sliding part in place.
This a first attempt but it does work. I cut off 5 1/2 inches and started fiddling around. Made some notches in the sides of the plastic, then pressed it in place on the console part. Got out my handy Dremel tool and using a plastic cutting wheel, cut notches in the plastic.
Problem... no clearance for the black plastic close out piece. Ended up trimming it a couple of times and it actually works to hold the black plastic close out piece in place.
Isn't pretty but works. Like Red Green says " If the girls don't find you handsome, at least they'll find you handy"

Good idea as a lot of those are broken.
