Horn Relay
« on: October 01, 2021, 07:45:44 AM »
Need a Horn Relay for 65 GS. Looks like there were 2 types used: DELCO-REMY #1115833 or LITTLEFUSE #391924. Thanks in advance.

The Little Fuse is correct for originality.
I may have a restored one. Would need to check.

Who restores those relays?

As have a few that cosmetically are fine.

Regards,
Jim

I am not aware of anyone else restoring these other than myself.  When I come across one that is restorable , in my opinion.
I ruined a couple with my first attempts in removing the cover. The plastic that was used is quite brittle and it is easy to break a corner off. Once the cover is off, it's a matter of cleaning contacts and sometimes re-soldering the tiny wire for the electro-magnet. If the relay has been exposed to the elements for to long , the relay may be beyond restoration.
Anyways, it is not something that I would do as a business. Curiosity got the best of me one day. lol

I had a case of curiosity too. Restored horn relay back in April.
Fixed my clock a couple of weeks ago.

Years ago after pulling horn relays off of Buicks while in the scrapyards of central PA. Curiosity got the better of me too. Most did not work, so I opened them up to find dirt, rust, broken wires. I was only able to repair One or Two out of a box full.  Definitely not worth the time and money that I put into them..

The one I have installed is a repro. Just looking to restore it to the Littlefuse one for originality. Plan to show the car at Nationals next year
