Today I attended the annual Muscle Car Show at the Gilmore Auto Museum in Hickory Corners, MI. This was hosted by a local club, the West Michigan Muscle Cars Club, and about 250 cars were shown. Feature models for this year’s event were the Oldsmobile 442 and the Buick Gran Sport. So I took both of my Gran Sports. My friend Bob drove the red car and Joel rode to the event with him. Glenn Vinz also joined us, making the trip from Ohio in his 65 GS.
There were many other categories of models and years and the attendees were asked to pick their top two in each category. There were sadly only a total of about 10 cars in the feature category. Our three 65 GSs, 65 & 69 Olds 442s, a 69 GS400 and a couple of other Cutlasses. I was hoping to see many more vintage Buicks at the meet.
At the end of the day, very surprising to me, the Verde Howitzer won the top award, Best of Show. This was unexpected at this type of show, but gladly accepted and appreciated.
I think this will be the last car show for the year and even though the car only got to two events this summer, I’m pleased that it was appreciated as much as it was.
