65 skylark auto to standard
« on: June 19, 2021, 02:41:19 PM »
I am going to attempt to change a 65 lark 300 auto to a 3 speed manual trans and will need the necessary linkage and clutch parts. Anything you have would be a start. Let me know what you have.
Thanks in advance !

Hi,

Hopefully you're looking for a later 3 speed as the original one's that came in 65 were one that had a non-
synchronized 1st gear, sugest getting a 4 speed, factory was a T-10 wide ratio with a 2.54 1st gear vs a GS closed ratio with a 2.20

A M20 Muncie would be a good substitute and also you rear axle ratio you will want to update, as factory Auto is a 2.78 vs 3 and 4 speeds got 3.23.

Good luck with conversion, much more fun with 3 pedals.

Also go to V8BUICK.COM in the u shift em section there is a good information about manual transmission 64/65 cars.

Regards,
Jim

Oh yes I'm an avid Buick V8 guy. I will be using a 3 speed out of a 66 lark. Def better rear gear as well trans first for sure. Thanks for the info !
