rear clip
« on: February 08, 2010, 07:21:25 PM »
I have a complete 65 Skylark four door rear clip sitting on a trailer in northern California. I was going to replace the whole rear clip on a two door sedan, but I don't think it is worth the trouble. I also have the rear window channel from a two door hardtop. The quarters are rust free as is the trunk floor. minor dent in passenger very back part of the quarter panel. Any one in the area interested? the price would be $900 for the rear clip and $100 for the window to trunk filler. That is what I have into it. No hurry to sell, as I will eventually wish I hadn't sold the rear clip.

New price, $600 for rear clip and still $100 for the window filler.

Wish I was closer Kurt.
I would definitely pick up on that clip.

That rear clip is still sitting on my trailer. Includes the deck lid, and a nice trunk floor. I'll take $800 to help pay for the increase in gas prices to come get it. If someone doesn't buy it soon, I may have to cut in up into pieces for easy storage and I hate to cut that trunk floor.

Do you have any pics of the rear clip? Wondering where the cut lines are?

We're getting a '65 GS 4speed car this week that we think will need a rear clip.

A little distance between us as we're in MN, but road trips can be fun!

Pictures coming as soon as I can grab my daughter's cell phone memory chip to move the files off my phone. The clip was cut 6-8 inches in front of the rear door opening. It was cut straight across the floor and through the rear roof pillars, more metal there than you will need. Still has the rear seat belts attached and the frame bolts came out clean, none broken off. If you are interested I will remove the trunk lid and get some photos of the floor. My memory is that it was very nice, but it has been a couple of years since I bought it so I would want to check. I believe the sheetmetal around the taillights is also in very good shape.

Kurt,

Thanks for the pics! If you could check the trunk floor that would be great. We haven't got the '65 yet, they're talking another snowstorm for us tomorrow afternoon into Wednesday. It's only three miles down the road, but it's had a shed built around it that needs to be taken apart before we can see the whole car!

Where in California are you located?

Ken,

If the trunk floor on Kurt's rear clip needs replacing,  I have a new one, in-the-box that I would let go cheap.  It's the American made type.  I thought I would need it but I ended up getting an second one with a parts car I bought.  I am in minnetonka.

I'd love to see some photos of your car "in the barn".

Ken, I live in Lakeport, CA 95453, 2.5 hours past Sacramento, assuming you would be coming via Interstate 80.

Kurt/Ken,

If the piece by rear seat kickup won't be used, I'd love to get the rear seat belts, hardware and plates
from the floorpan. Let me know. Thanks!

Hey, Mark,

The seatbelts are not OEM. Big washers on the underside of the car sealed with RTV. I can't image that they are original GM. Also have retractors whick I doubt Buick would have used on rear seats.

Kurt,

I'll take a pass - looking for a factory setup. Thanks for the heads up!
