How do you post pictures?
« on: May 07, 2021, 04:02:16 PM »
I am having a hard time posting pictures using my iPhone. I couldn't make them small enough without emailing to myself and sizing and posting using my computer. I tried taking pictures in this site which is allowed using the iPhone, but still the picture was too large. So then I tried using my Microsoft Service Pro and I had to take the picture, resize and then select. I am doing something wrong. I would love to take pics with my phone and post directly, but I can't seem to make it work. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

I'm not an iPhone user, but have you confirmed that the picture file format used by Apple is compatible with this site?  I post JPEG files all the time without any problems.  I recall that Apple uses a proprietary picture file format that I've in the past had to convert to JPEG using third party software.

Just a suggestion as I have absolutely no experience with Apple products.

Good luck!

Chuck, There is a setting that allows me to change file type to jpeg, but it is too large a file and I can’t find a way on my iPhone to change the size. Maybe there is an app……

I gave up trying to post IPhone or IPad pixs and bought a $38 dollar digital camera off Amazon. I just remove the disk from the camera and plug it into my desktop computer.

Dear Kurt, Chuck, Jim, Kevin, and owners of photogenic mid-60s Buicks.

I am having a hard time posting pictures using my iPhone. I couldn't make them small enough without emailing to myself and sizing and posting using my computer. I tried taking pictures in this site which is allowed using the iPhone, but still the picture was too large.
. . . .

Unfortunately, you have diagnosed the problem correctly.  The images are too large to post on 65GS.com.  A while back I created a tutorial that showed how to resize images using apps available for the iPhone.  Here is a link to the thread:

It is 2 years old now and I haven't tried to do this since then, but you might take a look at it.  It might solve your problem.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Hi Edouard, Kurt Jim, Kevin, Chuck
Ok, so I'm not good with this hi tech phone stuff. But Kevin said that a inexpensive $38 digital camera could solve my posting picture problems ? I did have  an old 2002 inexpensive Nikon digital camera and don't remember ever having a problem posting photos. My kids dropped the camera, it broke and I never replaced it because I upgraded to a smart phone that has a good camera. But will an inexpensive camera allow me to post photos ? If so I will buy one and post my restoration and project photos.

Tony, Kurt,
Here's the camera I bought on Amazon. It was cheep not a lot of bells and whistles; it allows me to post pictures here and keep a history of my project.
Be careful, some photo management sites want access to all your pictures as will as several other functions on your phone.
So Tony, Kurt lets see some of those project pictures.
I'll try to get some updated photos of mine.

Ok,  I have good news. I was telling my son James that I need to get a small camera to post photos and he said that we (Karen & I ) purchased 3 small digital cameras 2 years ago for our 3 sons for Christmas and James really never used his because he purchased a 35mm with the money from his summer job. So he gave me his Kodak Pixpro FZ43 to use. So I will take some photos this week and see if I can post them. Thanks for the great advice....

I am looking at apps that use my phone’s camera and that I could set to the right size. One problem is most have advertisements built in that will interrupt picture taking and maybe posting. I’ll post if I find a good one.

Hi Everyone, I just just listed a posting In the Rims & Tires section AND I posted a photo !! I used that Inexpensive Kodak PixPro that my son had and the photo was accepted by the site with no problem. So I would say from now on the PixPro will be my camera of choice in my shop when documenting my work instead of my smart  phone. Thanks everyone for the help ...  :cheers2:
