Gran Sport Badge Restoration
« on: January 14, 2021, 07:24:12 AM »
The Gran Sport badges on my 65 behind the rear windows are faded and missing paint.  They are off the car right now. I would like to paint them now so I can install them and put the interior back together.  What colors do I use for the black and red? They are in good condition other then the flaking/faded paint.  Any tips or tricks concerning them would be great as well.

Thanks - Steve

The black is a matte finish and the red is bright ! On original emblems the only chrome seen is the raised outline of the letters! I have used testors model paint in a small air brush and it worked well! The letters are taped and I used a hobby knife to cut around the outline and spray the black! Then come back retape and cut the inset of the letters then spray red! First pic is glove box emblem that was repainted needs a little polish! Second pic is a faded original in front with repro in back! Third pic shows that the original is all blacked out and on a repro the chrome edges  are not painted!
