Angled Emblems on 65 Gran Sports

I have a lot of pictures from my search for a 65 GS. One thing I noticed on hardtops and post cars is that about 20% of the cars have angled/crooked emblems on the sail panel. Not sure on convertibles since those are on the quarter panels. I wonder why some have this and many do not. My car has angled emblems and is a Fremont car. Anyone else notice this and can document where angled emblem cars were built? Maybe it was a certain build date period. I will post a few pictures of cars with angled emblems.

More examples. Some look like unrestored originals but even repainted cars would use the factory drilled mounting holes. One other thought is maybe some emblems have the pins in a different position changing the angle.

Can anyone else weigh in on this? Are your 65 emblems angles or straight? Mine are slightly angled. I heard angled emblem cars are worth more.

i have 2 cars..a small badge and a very very late car, and they are both dead straight

both have moldings..so molding eye trick isnt it...

the next thing would be production date and plant that produced it..well documented
that different plants had different anomalies on the assy lines..

 Mine is a Fremont car. It is straight.  With Chevy Tonawanda Engine Plant and the Ford Stamping Plant here in Buffalo, I could tell you some stories. You say about 20% ? That makes sense. It was either done on a Monday or a Friday and probably by the same guy.

So very hard to see in this picture! I will try and get a better one! My early build Kansas hardtop gs has the splade style holes in both sides of the sail panel!? Just a feeling is that the template for the trunk emblem was used!? Then the two round holes seem to be added later as a repair!? The square barrel clips are still in the holes with original white paint! You can see a little square of the white over red paint in the right hand corner of pic! One side the emblem is going down hill and other one is straight!? I will get a shot of the up side down taillight bucket factory mistake and repair also!

There are some convertibles with angled emblems too. Easy to see with the body line. Here is one example.

I see the car for sale now has angled emblems too, also a Fremont car. I wonder if this is only on a certain time line of build dates?
