Needing clutch linkage parts
« on: November 12, 2020, 09:24:17 PM »
I am needing any clutch linkage parts for my 65 four speed, unfortunately when I purchased the car I believe previous owner misplaced the linkage from the frame bracket to the bell housing  ( he had installed a Muncie in it and had never finished hooking it up) any help or parts greatly appreciated! Is it possible other gm parts from same May fit? Thanks

Parts are unique to the 65-66 gs! Only parts that are the same are a few plastic bushings, small ball stud and d retainer clips! Most pieces can be made though by a good fabricator! But not cheap!

If no parts are available to purchase hopefully someone could loan out specific ones that I can have fabricated .

Like gssizzler said, the parts are '65-'66 Skylark GS specific. I'm on year 3 and still looking for a couple of pieces.

I would love to keep my gs stock but is anyone familiar with a hydraulic clutch conversion?, I believe they use them quite a bit in street rods

They can be used. Got to make sure that you have correct throw out. Are you using a original T-10? The bearing retainer can be a problem might have to turn it down !? Greatest advantage is you eliminate the linkage! If configured right smoother shifts! Yes this is why they are used on street rods and race cars! But the disadvantage can be where and how to mount the slave cylinder! Fast Monty on you tube shows how one is put in a 69 gto!

TrunkMonkey used a hydraulic clutch system. in is convertible.  If you contact him, I'm certain he would give you the details.

I converted my 65 GS to a TKO 600 5-speed and installed a Hydramax hydraulic clutch setup. I picked up the kit from American Powertrain (https://americanpowertrain.com/shop/fields/billet-reservoir/hydramax-hydraulic-clutch-actuator-system-for-tko-muncie-t10-saginaw-richmond-jericho-t5-lenco/)

I also opted for the black billet aluminum reservoir to replace the white plastic reservoir. I was able to tuck it in behind the hood hinge, but above the clutch master cylinder.

That is a nice setup! What gears are you running and what are the RPMs at highway speed?

I am running 4.11's with 255/45/17 rear tires. I've attached a read out of the transmission gear ratios and corresponding speeds at 2,500 rpm.
