Car cover recommendation
« on: October 04, 2020, 05:26:22 PM »
I am looking to buy a fitted car cover for my coupe. I?m currently using a Budge #4, but it is too small. Car is mostly stored indoors but would like the option to store outdoors for brief periods.

My most important desires are a good fit, good quality and a reputable company. Would also like USA made if that is possible.

Any thoughts?

To Gearhead46,  I have had many car covers from several companies thru my 40 years of owning vintage Buicks and so far I'm very pleased with the covers from California car cover co. They have a wide selection of different types Indoor/outdoor and types of fit too. you can see their catalog at calcover.com

Is rain or heat an issue? (Re: Car cover recommendation )

Dear Professor Gearhead, Tony, Kevin, Keith, Don, and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

I am looking to buy a fitted car cover for my coupe. I?m currently using a Budge #4, but it is too small. Car is mostly stored indoors but would like the option to store outdoors for brief periods.

My most important desires are a good fit, good quality and a reputable company. Would also like USA made if that is possible.

I certainly cannot disagree with the California Car Cover recommendation.  However, that still leaves you with a lot of choices.  A car cover for indoor use would normally be something lightweight.  How much are you concerned about exposure to the outdoors?  Can you avoid having the car exposed to rain or hot days?  If so, than an indoor cover will probably suffice.  If there is some risk of either, perhaps you should choose something heavier.  The last time my wagon was under a car cover was in the second half of the 1990s.  I can see that cover technology is much improved since then.  However, California Car Cover has 2 models with barriers for rain and one specifically designed to reflect the sun's heat.  Depending on your concerns, you might choose a cover with those extra defenses.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:
