Chuck, put me down for one (1) complete set of battery cables for a 65 Gran Sport please. Advise when you have a final cost and how I can pay you.

It appears the 65/6 Skylark GS battery cable numbers have been changed a few times like Walt said. MY white Buick parts book that is from 1958 through 1974 lists the 65 and 66 the same numbers.

Hi Bill,

Those 6xxxxxx and 8xxxxxx numbers look to me like parts that GM Parts Division superseded the originals with and combined both 65 and 66 GS applications into those new part numbers when they updated the parts book after 1974.  Walt's 66-only parts book and the 1966 Assembly Manual both show Negative as 2987233 and positive as 2985191.  AAW's part number from the original GM print for positive is 2985191.  Those three references to the same part number seem to confirm that it is correct.  The info I have on the Negative cable from AAW is on a charted drawing with lots of obsoleted part numbers, so I can't confirm the correct GM number from that drawing.  I can try to get more definitive info from them on the negative cable if you like, but I like that Walt's two resources refer to 2987233.  I don't have any skin the game about the 66 GS part numbers, but if I did, I'd choose 2987233 and 2985191 from Walt's research.  I believe the 2xxxxxx part numbers to be the originals.  But you are the only one that currently is interested in the 66 cables, so if you'd like different numbers on them, I'll see if AAW will make them that way.  Just let me know.

Thanks for adding to the database.  PM or call me if you'd like to discuss this in more detail offline.  Loren can give you my number.

Chuck, good to talk to you the other day. I found my 66 Skylark assembly manual and it confirms the 66 battery cable numbers Walt posted. I also found a picture in the manual of the 66 GS battery cables, I will attach it, not to clear my old camera does not do well for this. I is page 12-18-2 of the manual and shows the +cable with the same number as Walt posted, the- has no number on the picture. If you look these are not spring ring ends. Based on this I am thinking 66 did not use spring ring.

Chuck, good to talk to you again. As I said I will take 2 sets of GS cables, 1 with 65GS numbers one set with 66GS numbers if they will stamp them otherwise leave that set blank. both set with regular terminals NOT spring ring.

See attached page from assembly manual for 66 numbers.

Project update...

The order was placed with AAW on January 5.  Manufacturing leadtime is 4-6 weeks minimum, could be up to 8 weeks.  They're not accustomed to an order of this size.

I'll update when the cables are received and when they are ready for shipment to you.

Well, it appears that 4-6 weeks has turned into 4-6 months.  I checked status with AAW yesterday and they say another few weeks.  I'll keep you posted but wanted you to know this hasn't spilled off my plate.

If they are indistinguishable from original stock, it would be worth the wait.

 Chuck,
Thank you for keeping on this. Getting a quality piece is a great deal of work and so often takes more time than originally anticipated.

I received the battery cables late last week from AAW and worked over the weekend to attach the auxiliary ground wires to the GS negative cables.  They will be ready to ship after I receive shipping supplies from USPS.

Cost to you is $150 per set, as confirmed previously.  A list of those that placed orders is attached.  Please send a PM or email (cerescobra@gmail.com) to me with your shipping address and whether you prefer to pay with PayPal or a check.  I’ll reply with instructions for paying with PayPal and mailing address for those paying by check.  I ordered a couple of extra sets for the 65 GS, so if anyone else wants a set, please let me know.  First come, first served....

A few pictures of the cables installed on the Verde Howitzer are attached.

Myself I would just go to the P.O. & pick up some small or medium flat rate boxes depending on which size they would fit into.

I'm late to the program, but If anyone has a set they do not want or would like to sell let me know, I need a set.

Thanks,
