Underhood Spruce Up
« on: May 11, 2020, 05:57:34 PM »
Doing a little spiffying to Ruthy here - I painted the underhood white when I painted the body.. now I've got some rusto black, new insulation, new hood to cowl seal (which is still the original). Going to spray it with my gun.

Dear Iain, Chuck, and mid-60s Buick caregivers, . . . .

Doing a little spiffying to Ruthy here - I painted the underhood white when I painted the body.. now I've got some rusto black, new insulation, new hood to cowl seal (which is still the original). Going to spray it with my gun.

Glad to see that you are getting the underside of Ruthy's hood back to its factory color!  Are you going to add the factory hood insulation eventually?  You can find reproductions that aren't too expensive on eBay.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Yes Edouard, I ordered from parts place, who offered a reasonable deal. I'm just waiting for a couple things: the wind to let up a bit and the neighbor to move their car.

Dear Iain and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Yes Edouard, I ordered from parts place, who offered a reasonable deal.

Good to hear!  The Parts Place is a great resource for us Buick lovers.

I'm just waiting for a couple things: the wind to let up a bit and the neighbor to move their car.

You can't do anything about the wind, but perhaps your neighbor could be encouraged to move their car - unless they want it to have a certain speckling of GM engine bay black paint!  :laughing7:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Dear Iain and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Finish

. . . . Wait, you forgot the hole in the insulation made by the air cleaner nut! . . . . . Like this! . . . . .

Seriously, great job!     Ruthy looks better than Biquette when it comes to the hood.  Alas, until I can figure out some way to further reduce the height of the air cleaner, Biquette will continue to make holes in the insulation.

Thanks for sharing!

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:
