Carb ID tags?
« on: February 12, 2020, 12:23:24 AM »
Did Buick carbs (2bbl or 4bbl) originally have ID tags attached to the top plate?

If so, can any post some examples?

Thanks!

I "think" up to the  quadrajet era, the OEM Carter AFB and AVS's and Rochester 1, 2, & 4V's had tags.
This is a 37,000 mile original Rochester 1V off grammas car (BADLASS) that had a V6 with an ace (1 barrel).  The top pic is a typical quadrajet.   Bill

Does anyone have any examples they can post? I’m seeing a few different formats online.

I know the ID for Buick AFB's were the stamped number below the mounting nut.  Usually the ones with the tag had NO number BUT a different colored tag. Blue, Black colored tags are most common.

The original dual quads that I bought both had tags on them, but both were blank....

Mine were blank but had a clear red paint - like the distributor tag- no numbers.  several sets the same.

Anyone have any original 1965 tags (2bbl or AFB)?

Looks like - at least starting in 1966 - that the Buick part number (not the carb model number) was stamped on the tag.

Wonder what 65 looks like and what the other writing means?

Anyone have a 1965 AFB tag they can post?

PS - good info here (but not certain it applies to Buicks too?) - http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/additional-tech/1907-tame-engine-heat-budget-electric-fan-system
