OK. The last digit is not an exact copy of the previous "6", I agree. Probably just dirt/debris making the top of last digit appear "curved" to me, not straight. But per the attached view, it looks more similar to a "5" than a "6", so I'm good with it being a "5". Doesn't explain the red paint, but maybe it was rebuilt and installed in a 66 model, so prior use owner wanted a color matching engine, even if the markings didn't support it being a 66.
