Yes, indeed.
At the time I bought my Skylark, the internet was new(ish) and certainly not what it is today. For many years, I felt ashamed that I had bought a Buick, or at least lesser in some way. I am thankful to have this website connect me to other Buick people!

Dear Iain and mid-60s Buick caregivers,

Sorry to hear that you felt somehow inferior because you had bought Ruthy.  I guess because I grew up with Biquette I never had that problem.  She was simply "our car."

I'll definitely second the thanks to Loren and everyone on this forum for providing us with an online "home" for our "mature Buicks!"  :hello2:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

Edouard,

I had a very different situation as I was very interested in cars of the 1960s and wanted one to have and drive.

Friends and acquaintances kept saying I should get a Chevelle, etc. And, I even looked. But when I found Ruthy I knew that she was the car I wanted to buy.

Then came the snide remarks about 'there's no parts for those cars' or 'it's a Buick, not a Chevy' etc.

So it took me awhile to get over that and just enjoy that I found something I liked.

Finding parts . . . . "your mileage may vary!" (Re: Give thanks)

It is true that finding parts is more of a challenge, but that's part of the ownership experience.  There is enough parts overlap with other GM A-bodies that it isn't nearly as bad owning even a 1963 or earlier Buick.  My worst part search miseries have been for tailgate parts and that problem is the same for any GM mid-size wagon of the period.  Parts are definitely getting harder to find.  It is one of the unexpected complications of growing old.  When I first got Biquette, we were both 30 years younger!!  :laughing7:
