Is the windshield I a 65 GS the same as a Chevelle or GTO? Had a run in with a stone yesterday.

Yes..You should be able to get one from your local PPG glass installer without paying shipping and silly fees. I got a new one for $140 and installed myself,not sure what they charge for install on the skylarks. You have to make sure they have a clue not to mess up your moldings.
