Rounding up the following parts
« on: January 04, 2010, 11:12:29 PM »
With Spring being several months away, I'm starting my parts wish list early.  Please let me know if you have any of these parts and if you are interested in horse trading or would prefer cash:

1.  Bucket seats (decent solid cores will work)

2.  Nice set of rocker moldings (no tears or dents please)

3.  Plastic clips (slotted rectangle style) for a Skylark quarter panel body modings.  Need enough for both sides.

I know that the odds are against me, but would anyone happen to have a new convertible top weather stripping kit laying around from a previous project that they'd want to sell?  If not I'll shell out the $200 and simply buy one but I figured it's at least worth asking first.     :laughing1:

Feel free to either reply here or private message me.

Thanks,

Chris

Well Chris. I have a lead on a 65 Skylark Post parts car. I've talked to the guy selling it a couple of times. The body is rough but it has a black bucket seat interior. Seats are good cores. The taillights look ok. I was tempted to but it for some trim etc. I have to scrape up the cash though for it shortly if I'm going to do it. Now that I said this it probably just got sold. Did you see the green 64 Skylark in WI last week that sold for $1026.00 on Ebay. The interior was nice but green. The body was rusty but had a title and was complete.

I probably have the clips you need. They are from parts cars that I've stripped out. I also may have some nice rocker moldings as well.

What 65 are you looking for parts for? Is it the black one that I could not scrape up the money to buy?  I wish I would have had the dough for it at that time. By the way I'm 197064buickspec from V8. I have a garage full of Buick parts and did body work for a living for 18 years. If you need some help let me know.

Hey Brian,

No problems on the black vert.

She's still sitting here and I have plans on listing it for sale again next month.

The clips are for the black convertible to get the quarter moldings back on her.  I had a set laying around here in an envelope but I think my wife threw them away on accident.

The buckets are for a low mileage 4 speed GS I bought last year and the rocker moldings are for my white convertible (need a really good set to send out for refinishing).  I'm not that worried about color or trim style as they'll probably need recovered anyhow (just need solid cores).

I remember seeing a parts car on Ebay a couple of weeks ago but didn't give it too much thought as I'm at my "car limit" right now and dragging another one home would send my wife over the edge.

If you run across these parts in the next couple of weeks, please let me know.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris,

I found my bag of molding clips for 65's. I also so far I have one good rocker molding. I'm going to bring it inside the house here and check it out. It did have a couple of small nicks on it but no actual scrapes or dents. To me is looks like a little sanding and polishing and it would look great. I'll let you know. I'm sure we can work something out.

Thanks Brian.. just let me know how much you need for the clips (enough for both sides) and send me a picture or two of the molding(s) when you have them cleaned up.

Chris,

You can have the clips. I will count how many the quarter panels use. All you need to do is send me postage at some point. I didn't bring the rocker molding into the house yet. I'll try tonight. I'm just taking a few minute break from work right now. PM me your address

I finally made it to the post office today. 20 clips got mailed today. $3 shipping from the USPO.

I also finally was able to get in the garage and get the single rocker molding that I do have. I wiped it down. It's in decent shape. Not perfect but in my opinion an 8 out of a 10. I think shipping without it getting destroyed will be a challenge.  Where do you want me to email photos?

Thanks Brian, I'll get you some money in the mail for the clips as soon as I receive them and have your return address.

As for the pictures of the molding, please send them to my email address.

Do you know if that molding is a drivers or passenger side part?

Thanks,

Chris

Brian, ship it in a length of PVC pipe and get a couple end caps so it can't come out. I would still not be surprised if it arrives bent. :violent1:   Tom

Chris,
Did you ever get the clips I sent to you for FREE? I never heard back from you. Just curious. Thanks

Hey Brian,

Yes I did get them and I apologize as I thought I posted a big THANK YOU.  I've been so busy lately with a project at work and dealing with things around here that I've not been able to spend much time on the site or getting the convertible ready for sale.  I wanted to have it on Ebay by now but there simply hasn't been enough time to even think about it.

I received the pictures of the rocker molding also and I'll go ahead and buy it from you now.  Please send me a total cost in email for the molding with S&H to 45801 and the cost of the postage on the clips you sent already.

Did you ever get that other parts car you was after?  I was wondering because if you had a pair of rocker moldings, that would make everything even better.   :icon_thumright:

Thanks again.

No I did not get the other parts car. It got sold prior to me commiting. I do have another lead on another 65 parts car. I also have a semi local guy with a pair of rocker moldings for sale. I have not seen them yet but not expecting much. The rest of the stuff I bought from him was just average condition. I'll get you the total and I'll have to get the PVC tube. I'll be in touch.
