All RHD's eh? So is that the standard or opposite rotation engine, with or without warnner velvet drives or allison gears? Hmmm...
Heres a good one... My boat has twin inboard 454 Mercs. The port side is the standard rotation, basically a stock 330HP engine. Now think about this: how is the starboard opposite rotation accomplished?
NOTE: Both engines turn the props outboard at the top facing the back of the boat.
Standard engines (minus the nailhead) are usually #1 front drivers side. That side has the cylinder head mounted forward 1/2 ONE CRANKPIN of the passenger side.
Both the marine engines are #1 fwd, LEFT, just like a car. P is 18436572 and St is 12756348. That BTW is with the velvet drive gears with planetary gears. Allison gears have both engines turning inboard and props are reversed rotation via a dropped reduction gear. But wait, it gets better.
the OEM engines in my boat were 1963 Corvette 283s Same rotation deal EXCEPT they were 283F models (thats flywheel forward, or backwards) and drive of the damper end of the engines with a special Chris Craft front gear case and a special CC flywheel cover. On both makes there is a LH and a RH starter motor.
The answer will come later, unless you beat me to it. Im going under to change the rear wheel cylinders and a NEW master cylinder AGAIN. This time from CarQuest. BOTH items are NEW. Front WC's come in tomorrow. KRIPES! Bill
