Today we enjoyed an interesting and fun day with classic cars in Auburn, Indiana. Got to spend time with some of our 65 GS family and enjoy a bunch of beautiful classics. Those shown by the Antique Automobile Club of America group were top notch and we also got to experience other beauties going across the block at an RM Auction on site.
Our own Brian Stone and Mark Ascher showed cars and had them judged by the AACA. Brian showed his 66 Skylark hardtop that had belonged to his grandfather. Mark showed his pristine 65 Skylark GS hardtop. Both had participated in previous AACA events and had won both Junior and Senior awards for their cars. Brian had also previously won the Preservation Award. Today they were vying for their first Grand National awards, the next step in the award progression of the AACA.
And both were successful! Brian won the Grand National Award and a repeat Preservation Award. Mark also won the Grand National Award and his first Preservation Award.
Our 65 GS family was well represented at the meet. In addition to Brian and Mark, other "family members" in attendance included Brian's wife Hollie, Mark's brother Mike, John Evenson, Bob Bowen, and myself. Mark's friend Frank and my friend Joel also joined in.
Congratulations Brian and Mark! And kudos for sharing our favorite Skylarks with another appreciative classic car group!
A few pictures are below. I imagine Brian and/or Mark might want to add more when time allows.
