gas pedal problem
« on: March 10, 2019, 09:36:12 AM »
Hi Guy's, I need some help and you guy's always are a big help. I have a factory dual quad set up on my car. I have had the engine out of it for 2 years and just got it all back together and I can't get the gas pedal to work correctly. I'm thinking a spring problem. I know I don't have the right springs. My pedal has a hard spot as soon as I push it. If I step hard on the pedal it is fine until it returns. I don't remember where they were but I have one on the bracket on the firewall but that spring runs almost up and down. Any help is appreciated.

Check the two nylon rollers the pedal "rides". If they are broken and do not roll, the pedal will drag or feel "gritty" rather than smooth.

I have only the one "vertical" spring on my 2x4 in the '64 Skylark and have no issues with it, but I did "recondition" all the components and greased the rollers, and the pivot on the firewall side.
