A6 compressor oprions...
« on: September 18, 2018, 01:59:43 PM »
I believe I have the proper bracket to install an AC compressor in my car. Has anyone used any other compressor than the 35-pound A6?
I will be installing an aftermarket fan and evaporator unit under the dash.

Yes, that is the correct bracket to install an A6 compressor.  There are members that have adapted a Sanden compressor to that bracket.  Hopefully someone will chime in that has already done this compressor swap.

Hope this works, this is a direct replacement for an A6 compressor. Much lighter and uses less hp.

It appears that this new compressor is only available with a single belt pulley on it.  The 401 engine in a 65 GS has two belts going around the AC compressor and alternator.  Not sure what would happen if you only had one, but I have always thought the reason for having two was due not not having much belt wrap around the alternator pulley--having two belts makes up for it.
