Trunk finishing
« on: July 22, 2018, 05:39:30 PM »
Hi folks,

Has anyone with a sedan or coupe finished out their trunk in mostly stock materials? Including placement of the original bumper jack?
Ready to get mine in better shape.

Thanks, Iain

Does Ruthy still has her original jack? (Re: Trunk finishing)

Dear Iain and mid-60s Buick owners who like to get things tidy,

Has anyone with a sedan or coupe finished out their trunk in mostly stock materials?

I don't think I can help you with that question since the back of my car looks like this!

Including placement of the original bumper jack?

Still I'm curious.  Do you have Ruthy's original bumper jack?  Biquette's jack got lost when she was stolen in 1986.  I finally found another one but haven't had time to try to restore it.

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:

A regular spring, huh? Never would have guessed.
Yep, Ruthy came with her original bumper jack, which I stupidly used the first year I had her.
That four door pictured has my exact original interior.

Never hurts to have a working bumper jack (Re: Trunk finishing)

Dear Iain and mid-60s Buick owners trying to be ready for anything,

Yep, Ruthy came with her original bumper jack, which I stupidly used the first year I had her.

Obviously not the first choice, but the bumper jack can be used without damaging the bumper if you are very careful.  Back in the day, my Dad had bought a hydraulic bottle jack, but we didn't have quite enough clearance to get it under the axles.  So we would use the bumper jack to raise the car just enough to get the bottle jack under.

I hope never to need it, but I want to get this bumper jack I've acquired working safely.  If you have it and don't need it - no worries.  It's the opposite that could be very disheartening! . . . .  :BangHead:

Cheers, Edouard  :occasion14:
